The Summer
We Stayed

"Some seasons change everything. This one did."

After her marriage quietly falls apart, Nina Calloway drives to her grandmother's lake house with nowhere else to go. What she finds there — in the memories, the neighbors, and one unexpected friendship — will ask her to decide what kind of woman she actually wants to be.

"Ashworth writes women the way they actually are — complicated, funny, tired, brave. This book cracked me open."

About the Writing

Stories for Women Who Are Still Figuring It Out

Claire Ashworth's novels aren't about tidy revelations. They're about the slow, messy, quietly gorgeous work of becoming who you were supposed to be — usually later than expected, often in spite of yourself.

Her characters make the wrong choices for understandable reasons. They love imperfectly. They surprise themselves. That's the point.

About

Claire Ashworth

Claire Ashworth writes women's fiction about the years in between — after the life you planned and before the one you build. Her books are about friendship, loss, reinvention, and the particular brand of courage it takes to admit you don't have it figured out.

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and too many houseplants, most of which are thriving despite her best efforts.

Her debut novel, What We Left Unsaid, was an indie bookseller pick and a book club favorite in six countries.
